FAQ
What qualifies a youth to be part of our youth mentorship sessions?
We mentor youth ages 6-18 who have emotional trauma from neglect and or abuse, and youth that have trouble adapting socially due to severe anxiety or trauma. More than half of the youth we see live in residential facilities, with extended family members or are in foster care. We do NOT mentor youth with special needs, developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities. This includes, but not limited to, youth with Autism, ADHD/ADD, and Tourette's Syndrome. There are several well established organizations in CNY that offer services for these individuals.
How do I schedule a session for a youth?
We schedule sessions at various times Monday-Friday. If you have or know of a child that would benefit from coming to our farm please email us at info@purposefarm.org. Please keep in mind that there are many
different activities that each child can participate in on our farm. While most children come to interact with the horses, it is always up to the leader's discretion to help choose an activity that is appropriate for the child.
While we do not wish to turn any child away, there are a limited number of sessions available each month. Although we cannot guarantee a session for every child who wants one, we will do our best to accommodate as many participants as possible. The need is great in CNY and we are just not big enough to see every child that could benefit from coming to Purpose Farm.
What does a session cost?
God called our family to do this FREE of charge! In addition to our families income; we rely on private supporters and donations! Thank you to those who have purposed their money to help us in fulfilling our purpose of changing children's lives. We cannot do this without supporters. We also thank God for the grace he has given our family to keep moving forward with his ministry.
What are the clothing and equipment requirements and recommendations?
Can I stay on property during my child's session and can friends or sibligns come?
If adults, siblings, or friends, choose to stay on property while your child is in session, here are some ideas for that time, as well as some general safety rules. We hope for this time to be relaxing and enjoyable for all who come.

If adults, siblings, or friends, choose to stay on property while your child is in session, here are some ideas for that time, as well as some general safety rules. We hope for this time to be relaxing and enjoyable for all who come.
- Read or relax in the viewing room or on one of the benches or picnic tables around the property. Please ask a leader if further information is needed.
- Play or be involved with your kids who are NOT in sessions. Please keep these children with you at all times. You are welcome to use our coloring books and crayons during your stay. ( Located in the viewing room )
- Watch your children ride during their session. We do ask that you watch from a distance and help us to maintain a one-on-one relationship with your child.
- Taking pictures is permitted and encouraged. Again, we ask parents to use discernment regarding giving space to their child and leader during the session.
- The horses love to welcome visitors. We invite you to meet them over the fence. However, please do not enter the paddocks or feed any treats without a leader present.
